Welcome to nursery!

Our school-based nursery takes children from the term after they turn 3, until they move onto full-time school when they are 4.

We have 3 intakes of new starters throughout the year:

  • September
  • January
  • Easter

We offer flexible sessions, 5 days a week, to help meet yours and your child's needs:

  • Morning sessions run from 8:30am - 11:30am.
  • Lunchtime sessions run from 11:30am - 12pm.
  • Afternoon sessions run from 12pm - 3pm.

Families can use their 15 or 30 hours of Funded Early Learning (FEL)  to cover the cost of their nursery sessions. Families can also choose to pay for additional sessions that are not covered within their FEL entitlement.

Once you have applied for and been allocated a nursery place, we will be in touch to support the transition into nursery for your child, to help make this process as smooth as possible.

  1. In the half term before your child starts, you will be invited to attend a parent's meeting, which will give you a chance to meet key staff, including the senior leadership team, nursery staff and SENCO. This meeting will also explain what to expect when your child joins nursery and what you need to do to be ready for this. At this meeting we also discuss aspects such as uniform, lunches and communication.
  2. At the parent's meeting you will be asked to sign up for a home visit and a stay and play session.
  3. The home visit will usually take place in the first week of the new term that your child will start with us (e.g. September, January or April). Two staff members from nursery will come to visit you and your child at home, as the first step of getting to know you. Where possible, we aim to send the staff member who will be child's key worker.
  4. You will be invited for a stay and play session at nursery in the week of or the week after your home visit. This is a chance for your child to join in with all the fun at nursery for an hour with you.

We know that all children and families are different and so if your child needs additonal support for their transition, we will work with you to create an individualised plan.
