Here is an example of what a day looks like in Foundation Stage 2.
We regularly adapt and add exciting learning activities which may mean this timetable varies.
We will however, always ensure your child has a wide range of learning opportunities to suit their needs and interests whilst ensuring their next steps in learning are met.

Children are greeted by their teacher and are welcomed into their classroom. They settle into morning work with their classmates. |
8.50am |
Register Children sit on the carpet to say good morning to their classmates and teachers. They also choose their lunch: we put photographs of their meal options on the board to help them decide. |

Phonics Lesson The class have their daily phonics lesson where children learn early reading skills and practise letter formation and writing. |
9.20am |
Literacy Lesson Children work in small groups to develop their literacy skills. Throughout the week all children will take turns working with the teacher, the teaching assistant, independently and in continuous provision indoors and outdoors. |
10.20am |
Reading Groups (Three times a week) Children develop and practise their reading skills - both phonics and comprehension with the support of a teacher or teaching assistant Charanga Music (Twice a Week) Children listen to and explore a wide variety of music and learn new songs. |

Assembly and Snack time Children have a piece of fresh fruit or a vegetable for snack along with water or milk whilst they have class assembly with their teacher. |

Story time Children sit together with their teacher or teaching assistant to enjoy a wide variety of stories and poetry. ‘Star of the Day’ is also awarded to a child who has achieved something special that day, closing the day with a celebration of their achievements. |

Big PE also takes place one afternoon per week. This may be taught by class teachers or by specialist sports coaches.
