Children arrive and are greeted by nursery teachers. The children find their name on the board and settle into small groups with their key-person. Together they do a morning game or activity and the teacher takes the register.
Group Time
Children help their teacher to complete the daily calendar, talking about the day of the week, season and the weather that day. They also do a small group focus activity, often inspired by a story which helps to develop their maths or literacy skills.
Snack
Children have the option to enjoy a piece of fruit or vegetable along with a drink of milk or water. Their water bottle is also available throughout the session for children to drink when they are thirsty.
Continuous and Enhanced Provision
Children access all areas of the curriculum both indoors and outdoors, participating in exciting and engaging learning experiences supported by teachers and teaching assistants. Small group work takes place during this time too.
Learning Activities
Wiggle into a Squiggle
This programme supports early mark making and writing through music and song. It’s a great way to start the children’s writing journey.
Foundations for Phonics
Children join in small group phonic games and activities based on the Little Wandle programme.
Story time and Singing
Children enjoy listening to, and joining in with, a wide range of stories and songs. Developing their love of reading and music.
Star of the Day
The nursery children and staff come together at the end of each session to celebrate a child who has tried their best, been extra kind or helpful or achieved something special in their learning journey. They are awarded ‘Star of the Day!’
Home time, Lunch time or After School Club.
Depending on the session children may be collected by their grown up from home, the after school club staff or, if it follows a morning session, they may have lunch in the room next to nursery. At lunchtime children are invited to choose either a school meal or to bring a packed lunch from home.
We regularly adapt and add exciting learning activities which may mean this timetable varies. We will however, always ensure your child has a wide range of learning opportunities to suit their needs and interests whilst ensuring their next steps in learning are met.
