At Halfway Nursery Infant School our vision is to create a positive learning environment, which maximises the physical, social, emotional development whilst being tailored to the individual needs of pupils to support wellbeing. We support children to develop positive values about themselves, their learning and their environment. We offer an environment that is natural, informal, unpredictable and stimulating to encourage a love for the natural environment around them.
At Halfway Nursery Infant School, we started our Outdoor Adventure learning in the Spring of 2025. Currently, each year group gets a designated time in a half term to participate in a series of Outdoor Adventure sessions. These sessions are run in our small school woodland, and led by our teaching staff. Some members of our teaching staff have received the Forest School Level 1 traning which supports us with this exciting development and addition to our curriculum and school offer.
Outdoor Adventure sessions aim to enhance a child's ability to function in various social situations by offering diverse experiences and opportunities. Outdoor Adventure can have a positive, lasting impact on a child's attitude toward themselves and their self-belief. When children believe they have something to contribute, they become more active in learning and contribute more to the educational process. Engagement and positive attitudes toward learning lead to greater success in adulthood.
