We have two Foundation Stage 2 (Reception) classes at school, each with a maximum of 30 places

Once you have applied for and been allocated a school place at our school, we will be in touch to support the transition into school for you and your child, to help make this process as smooth as possible.

  1. In the second half term of summer, you will be invited to attend a parent's meeting, which will give you a chance to meet key staff, including the senior leadership team, Foundation Stage staff and SENCO. This meeting will also explain what to expect when your child joins school and what you need to do to be ready for this. At this meeting we also discuss aspects such as uniform, lunches and communication.
  2. At the parent's meeting you will be asked to sign up for a stay and play session, a home visit and days for a staggered start to school to September.
  3. You will be invited to come one day after school in June/ July to stay and play in the Foundation Stage 2 unit. These sessions last for approximately 45 minutes and give you and your child a chance to explore the setting.
  4. Before the summer holidays you will receive a letter telling you what class your child has been allocated and who their teacher and teaching assistant will be. This letter will also contain a welcome message from their new staff, including a picture of them.
  5. The home visit will usually take place in the first week back in September. Your child's new teacher and teaching assistant will come to visit you and your child at home, as the first step of getting to know you.
  6. Your child will then join us in school for two half days, before they start full-time with us.

We know that all children and families are different and so if your child needs additonal support for their transition, we will work with you to create an individualised plan.
